WebSocket monitoring

Beyond the homepage

Persistent connections fail in their own ways; LucidStack catches them.

ws and wss

Encrypted or unencrypted connections, with TLS negotiation and certificate verification.

Message sent

Send a text message when the connection opens, like an application-level ping.

Expected reply

Check that the reply contains the expected text, for example "pong".

Connection time

The time to open the connection is measured and tracked.

Three regions

An outage seen from a single region doesn't trigger an alert.

Alerts and status pages

Show the status of your real-time service on your status page.

Questions

WebSocket monitoring FAQ

Are encrypted connections supported?

Yes, wss:// addresses are checked with TLS negotiation.

Yes, the message is sent as-is as text: a JSON object works perfectly.

How long does the connection stay open?

Long enough to receive the expected reply, within the monitor's timeout, then it is closed.

Can I monitor Socket.IO?

Yes, if your server accepts a direct WebSocket connection; otherwise, monitor its HTTP endpoint.

Start monitoring in two minutes.

Add a URL, choose where to be alerted. LucidStack takes care of the rest, day and night.
